Claude Papin’s Chenin Blancs are wonderful. Whether
dry or sweet, it seems you can’t go wrong here.
Pierre-Bise Quarts de Chaume 2002
Wonderfully intense apricot and herb nose with some lifted acid.
Palate is rich and complex with concentrated spicy, herby notes.
Complex and rich, very sweet and viscous. Very good/excellent 94/100
Pierre-Bise Savvenières 2001
Lovely elegant nose of herbs and straw. Quite delicate. Harmonious
herby palate with great balance and elegance: a profound dry white.
Very good/excellent 93/100
Pierre-Bise Coteaux du Layon Beaulieu-Rouannières
2002
Quite a deep colour. Sweet, herby, full nose with crystalline
fruits. The palate is richly textured and full. Great balance and
purity. Very sweet with great texture and a herby edge. Not massively
complex but lovely. Very good/excellent 92/100
Pierre-Bise Coteaux du Layon Chaume 1996
Deep colour. Complex herby nose – toasty, honeyed, rich, nutty
and intense. The palate is concentrated and rich with complex herb and
toast notes, together with some sweetness. A brilliantly poised,
intense sweet wine. Excellent 95/100
