Hedonism Wines: a remarkable wine shop
Visiting London's glitziest wine shop

Evgeny Chichvarkin's Hedonism Wines opened back in August 2012. So how come it took me so long to visit? I don't know. But today I found myself there as a participant in a World of Fine Wine Symposium (titled What is wine?), and so I too a chance to nose around.

Unlike other shops, the staff positively encouraged me to take photohraphs, and even unlocked the inner sanctuary, housing incredible old, historic bottles, one or two retailing at over £100 000.

The famous Yquem wall: 88 different vintages

And this is the Sine Qua Non room: a remarkable display of different bottles from this cult Californian producer.

Another room is dedicated to Penfolds, the celebrated Australian producer

But there are also less pricey but equally compelling Aussie offerings, such as Clonakilla

Get your Gaia fix here!

Big bottles? They have some very big bottles. Quite a few, too

Glad to see an extensive Portuguese selection. It's not just bling here.

Ditto the South Africans. Crystallum, Cape Point, Testalonga. On the money, son.

And a children's play area. They'd have to be pretty well behaved in here. Lots of expensive damage possible.
