The wines of Eva Fricke
Top German Rieslings from this Rheingau star

Eva Fricke (pictured above) was for a long time winemaker at Leitz, one of the best known Rheingau wineries. She began her own project while still employed there, making 300 litres of wine in 2006. She's now grown this to the point that it’s her main job (she left Leitz in 2011), and makes a range of Rieslings from her winery in Keidrich. Most of the sites Eva works with are in Lorch, but last year she got hold of some plots of vines in Keidrich. She rents vineyards, but has bought a couple too, and she work organically.

UK agent is Fields, Morris & Verdin

Textured, fine and limey. Dry and mineral with generous fruit as well as real complexity. There's finesse, too. 94/100

Eva Fricke Lorchhauser Seligmacher Riesling QBA 2012 Rheingau, Germany
Fine, expressive, lively citrussy nose. The palate is bright, fruity and pure with lovely weight. Off dry yet fresh, mineral and precise. 92/100

Eva Fricke Schlossberg Riesling QBA 2012 Rheingau, Germany
This is a wine that Eva says loses finesse if she makes it dry. It shows attractive rounded fruit with citrus, pear and some spice. There's a lovely linear purity to this wine. Off-dry. 93/100

Sweet, textured and pure, this wine shows lively fresh citrus fruit with lovely purity and notes of apples, pears and herbs. Textured, broad and fine. 93/100
