André Jacquart
High quality grower Champagne from Le Mesnil
UK
agent: Top Selection (www.topselection.co.uk)
Not
to be confused with Champagne Jacquart, André Jacquart is a small
domaine with 18 hectares of vines, based in Le Mesnil Sur Oger in
the Côte des Blancs. They also have holdings in the Vallée de la
Marne and L’Aube. Piérre
Jacquart and his sister Chantal Doyard-Jacquart run the domaine.
They are unusual in their use of oak for fermenting the base wines,
sourcing wood from Radoux, Francois Freres and Antonin Rodet.
THE
WINES
Champagne
André Jacquart 1er Cru Vertus Blanc de Blancs NV
This is based on the 2004 vintage, and old oak is used in the
fermentation process. It was disgorged in May 2008 and the dosage is
low (4 g/litre) Complex appley, herby nose with some subtle
toastiness. The palate is bold, savoury, intense and complex with
lovely depth of flavour, and a hint of creamy toastiness. Stylish.
91/100
Champagne
André Jacquart Grand Cru Le Mesnil Blanc de Blancs NV
70% barrel fermented in older oak. Complex, toasty and intense
on the nose, this is really refined and super-elegant. The palate
has subtle toasty notes backing up the intense, yet elegant, lemony
fruit. Serious stuff with lovely complexity and depth. 92/100
