Jean-Michel and Veronique Alquier
A family-owned domaine spanning five generations,
Alquier is one of the best-known names in the Languedoc appellation of
Faugères. Jean-Michel, son of Gilbert, whose name the domaine is
still known by, is the winemaker. The wines are very impressive, and
must rank at or near the top of the appellation on this showing.

Faugères ‘Les Bastides’ 2001
Fantastic refined, perfumed nose, showing a complex, tight spicy
meaty edge to the smooth dark fruits. The palate is now opening out
with dense, structured, earthy spicy fruit and hints of chocolate and
coffee. Savoury, satisfying and balanced. Very good/excellent 94/100
