Only a few notes, but these are all excellent wines.

Château Talbot 1997

Deep coloured, with a distinctive, slightly stinky nose with a pleasant herbiness. On the palate this is already quite approachable and soft despite the good tannic structure. A nice wine, but not one for the long haul.

Château Talbot 1996

Dense opaque purple colour, this is a huge wine. There is some smoky oak on the nose, and less of the herby character than the 1997. This is tannic, mineralic, rich and immensely complex. Excellent.

Connétable de Château Talbot 1996

Good colour and a beautifully stinky nose. Rich, tannic and complete on the palate. Less wighty than the Grand vin, this is tasty stuff, and probably more rewarding for near term drinking. Very good, and probably a bargain (I don't have a price for this).
