Bottle shock, the trailer
Bottle shock is a new wine film that has recently been released in the US. It's based on the famous 1976 Paris tasting in which Californian wines 'beat' the best of the old world. The tasting was arranged by Stephen Spurrier, who is contributing editor for Decanter, and who is also behind a film project on the same topic that has been 'scooped' by this project. wow. Looks worse than I thought it would be.
I never would have thought that you could have jammed so many cliches and bad acting into a 2 minute trailer. This looks absolutely terrible!
At least it's another movie about wine, which counts :o) But I kind of have a soft spot for Mr. Alan Rickman, he helped a lot to move this film from "trash" to "I like to see it" category :o)
It's even worse than the trailer shows. Sometimes it's OK to be scooped: better to be 2nd and good.
The trailer does look pretty bad. Let's hope the spurrier-endorsed film still gets made and that it's better, if the negative comments here are to be beleieved.
I'm actually excited to see it. Love Alan Richman. Just wrote a piece that included Grgich, who made the award-winning Chard for the Paris tasting. It comes to us in August and I can't wait!
I went to the Seattle Film Festival and I loved the movie. I actually recently just started making my own wine because of it, I doubt how good it'll be, but i hope it turns out well. It's a really good hearted movie and has very good acting and cinematography. Also the soundtrack is perfect.
