Day 3 of the London wine fair

Today was the third and final day of the London wine trade fair. There’s so much to see; you can’t hope to do everything, but instead just have to make sure you do enough that’s worthwhile.

I presented another session matching Alentejo wines with cheese and sausages from the region, but the rest of my time was spent tasting.

Highlights included some nice wines from Karl H Johner (presented by Patrick Johner, pictured with me below) from both Baden, Germany and Gladstone, New Zealand.

I also loved the latest vintages of the De Bortoli wines from the Yarra Valley. Pretty serious, and with sane alcohol levels (reserve Chardonnay is 12%).  Steve Webber and Leanne De Bortoli are pictured (top).

Also really interesting were the wines from Walla Walla Valley (Washington State, USA) pioneers Woodward Canyon. Rick Small, the owner, is pictured below.
