10 and 20 year old Tawny Ports from Taylor’s

Regular readers will know that I am a fortified wine fan, and that I just love Tawny Port. here are a couple of good ones from Taylor’s. Both widely available in the UK. Don’t be afraid to serve Tawny chilled, or even straight from the fridge.

Taylor’s 10 Year Old Tawny NV, Douro, Portugal
20% alcohol. Warm, sweet, spicy and tarry with some black fruits on the nose. Concentrated palate with sweet, warm, spicy, tarry notes and a bit of raisin and toffee richness. warm, mellow, spicy, rich and robust. 91/100 (£22 Booths, Majestic, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Waitrose)

Taylor’s 20 year Old Tawny NV, Douro, Portugal
20% alcohol. Cherry red colour with an orange tinge. Beautifully aromatic with sweet, spicy, cherry, herb and raisin notes. The palate is sweet with cherry fruit, warm spices and lifted appley notes. There’s also some raisin and herb character. Lively, spicy and full with appealing old wood notes. 93/100 (£35 Waitrose)

  1. Hi Jamie nice post hadn’t thought about serving Port chilled before. Great idea! BTW….i think the alcohol mentioned on the 10 yr is incorrect… cheers!
