For the last few days I have been in Oslo. It’s the first time I have visited this city.
I am here to do a couple of talks on the subject of Authentic Wine at the grand tasting of the Arcus group, the leading supplier of wine to the state-owned monopoly (Vinmonopolet). They were inviting Horeca representatives yesterday (the restaurant trade), and today it is the turn of the Vinmonopolet people and, later, consumers.
I have taken the chance to look round the city a bit. Yesterday was the Oslo marathon, so the streets were filled with very tired-looking people running further than the human body was intended to go.
The Opera House is quite new, and is a spectacular marble construction, designed so that people can walk up the roof.
The Vigeland Sculpture Park is quite impressive. It’s an 80 acre park containing over 200 bronze and granite sculptures by Gustav Vigeland.
The Hollmenkollen ski jump is very scary. Located on the top of a hill on the outskirts the city, it’s a huge new construction to assist people in their suicidal desire to jump 140 metres on a pair of skis. Sadly it was foggy, so we didn’t get a great view of it.

Oslo is a wonderful city. Visited many times but, sadly, not in the last 10 years. Maybe some time soon.
I’ve always wanted to go to Oslo. Hope to go soon! Great photos!
