Very impressed by this 2011 Douro red from Churchill. It’s not expensive, but it offers a real taste of the region, combining ripeness with definition. It’s stocked by Majestic and Tanners in the UK, both of whom still seem to be on the 2010, but will soon switch over to 2011. The 2010 is really good; the 2011 a slight step up.

14.5% alcohol. Ripe, sweet blackberry and black cherry fruit dominates this delicious Douro red. It’s quite pure and floral on the nose, and then the palate is textured and lush, without lacking freshness and definition. There’s a subtle hint of olives and meat. A stylish wine with superb balance. 92/100 02/14 (Usually stocked by Majestic and Tanners)
