Had a great time last night at the conference dinner. The food was bad, but the company was good and the wines were excellent. I’m pictured above with a magnum of Charme 2007. Dirk Niepoort also brought along Redoma 2007, Batuta 2007 and a host of colheitas.
A new discovery for me: Dona Berta. Superb old vine Rabigato (white) and also a beautiful, fresh, mineral, grippy Tinto Cao. And they’re not expensive.
Another new wine for me: the lovely TT from das Marias in the Dao. Very young, but brilliant.
Ilkka Siren, from Finland. And below, Andre Riberinho of Adegga/AVIN.

I had the 2007 Redoma about a year ago. Fabulous wine. How were the others.
Obviously these wines must drink well when young.
How do they age Jamie? and do the locals actually keep them for many years.
Long time lurker on the blog, curious how you thought the Niepoorts showed. Been looking to find some older ones for a time now but haven’t had much imput into whats worthwhile and whats not by them. Thanks!
