Fighting jetlag with Querciabella

Now this is my style of Sangiovese. It’s savoury, but it has elegant fruit, too. Both elements are held in lovely tension. It’s helping me fight my body clock, which is rather messed up at the moment. There are all sorts of circadian cycles that go on in the body, and when they are out of sync it can cause problems, no matter how seasoned a traveller you are.

Querciabella Chianti Classico 2009 Tuscany, Italy
Beautiful tight aromatics with minerals, spice, leather, rose petal and red cherries. The palate shows lovely balance of fruit and savouriness with cherries, plums, some citrus notes and firm, grippy tannins. Although it is quite a tannic wine, it isn’t austere, and the acid structure and fruit purity shine through. Will no doubt age well. 93/100
