Shashi and Devendra Singh have a 4 hectare dry grown Syrah vineyard on the Mornington Peninsula and their Avani Syrah is very fresh and elegant. The 2014 is delightful, and just 11.6% alcohol.

Herzog are not your typical Marlborough (NZ) producer. I like this quite a bit: a Zwiegelt.

Really liked the Stefano Lubiana wines from Tasmania. All good. This: an unoaked Pinot Noir with no added sulfites. Quite lovely.

Unusual but lovely. Richie Harkham’s wines from the Hunter Valley. Shiraz and Chardonnay (cloudy) excel.

Finally: ultra traditional label here, but a really lovely wine from Macquariedale. A typically Hunter Shiraz with a lovely personality.
