Just time for a lightning fast post from the road, hitching onto a winery wireless network. [I’m staying in producers’ homes, rather than hotels, which is great, but does limit internet access – no bad thing in a way.]
So some pictures. I spent yesterday working my way up from Lisbon – first at Quinta Sant’Ana in Mafra (James Frost, the owner, is pictured above) – what was Estremadura but is now VR Lisboa. Then Q Sanguinhal, Obidos (also Lisboa region), and then Q do Casal Branco in the Tejo (was Ribatejo – all these regions have recently changed their names), before staying the night in the Beira Interior with Almeida Garrett. Portugal’s lesser known regions they may be, but some of the wines are really good.
Top picture: old Castelao vine at Casal Branco. Below: older vineyard at Sanguinhal. It is so nice to see the sun again!
