A few years ago I visited a remarkable coastal vineyard in Limari, Chile, with active limestone soils. It was Tabali’s Talinay vineyard, and it’s turning out some seriously impressive Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
I’m impressed with this 2012 Chardonnay. It’s really thought-provoking, with lots of textural detail on the palate.
Tabali Talinay Chardonnay Coastal Limestone Vineyard 2012 Limari Valley, Chile
13.5% alcohol. Refined nose of herbs, nuts, wax and taut pear and citrus fruit. The palate is complex and mineral with a distinctive savoury, nutty edge to the tangerine and white peach fruit. Very detailed and fine-grained with structure and crystalline acidity, as well as hints of hazelnut and marzipan. 93/100 (£15.99 Virgin Wines)
I’ve opened a bottle of this tonight, 2 Years after this write-up and TN could be almost identical! This is a really fantastic Chardonnay, amazing value. I’d love to try it in a couple more years to see what happens….
I was fortunate to enjoy a 2013 vintage and it was outstanding. Now I am trying to find a distributor to purchase more.
Will appreciate a location here in Las Vegas, NV
