I’m really impressed by De Martino’s high end wines, which for Chile show an unusual (and welcome) sense of adventure. But I was also taken by this wine, an inexpensive Chardonnay with a lot of personality. For the price, it’s hard to beat.
De Martino Legado Chardonnay Reserva 2011 Limari Valley, Chile
Lovely pear and peach fruit here. It’s fruit driven, textured and rich but has freshness and acidity to boot. Great concentration with some melon and fig notes, showing style and finesse not normally encountered at this price point. 90/100 (£8.50 The Wine Society)
That is VGVFM.
I enjoyed Tabali’s flagship Chardonnay over Christmas – Talinay – very precise, citric, not at overly fruity or fat. A really nice wine – albeit more expensive than the De Martino. Long may we continue to see interesting and characterful wines coming out of Chile
I love a Chilean wine.. Its a great drop..
