I know this is a bit boring to report, but the Champagne Taittinger Comtes de Champagne 2006 is actually pretty good. Stunning really. The 2005 is currently drinking brilliantly (and 2005 was a difficult vintage in Champagne), but 2006 has everything there for it to be a classic. Now most of the top 2006s have been released, it’s fair to say this is a really good vintage. Quite ripe, but lovely.
Champagne Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs 2006 France
Fine and expressive with lovely citrus, pear and toast notes. Concentrated and linear with keen acidity but also lovely richness, too. Notes of spice, pear and ripe apples, but the dominant theme here is a lovely citrus core. Such finesse allied to concentration, showing nice depth of fruit. Pristine. 96/100
