Taittinger make some very nice wines. I’ve particularly enjoyed their NV of late, which always shows well in blind tastings. They have a sizeable vineyard holding of 288 hectares, which helps with quality. This is a non-vintage blend from Grand Cru vineyards and it spends five years on its lees.
Champagne Taittinger Prélude Grands Crus NV France
Fresh, sophisticated and pure with some richness and a nice sweetness. But it also shows really fine citrus, white peach and pear fruit, with a lovely pure lemony core. Fine, fresh and youthful this is really sophisticated with some sherbet and lime notes on the finish. 93/100 (£50 Morrisons, John Lewis, Harrods, Majestic, Lea & Sandeman, Oxford Wine Company, Hedonism, Fortnum & Mason)
