This is one of the cult grower Champagne producers. Marie-Noëlle Ledru took over her 6 hectare family domain in 1984. It’s based in Ambonnay, and all the wines are hand-riddled, hand-disgorged and produced from vineyards farmed without herbicides or chemicals. In 2010 Ledru lost 4 of her 6 hectares when the family sold off some vineyards. The result? These wines are getting even harder to find. But if you can get them, they are spectacular value for money.
Champagne Marie-Noëlle Ledru Grand Cru NV France
This is exceptional. Taut, fresh and lemony it has bright citrus fruit. Pure and linear with a hint of cherry. Juicy and bright with amazing precision, stunning focus and keen acidity. I think this was the 2014 disgorgement, but I’m not sure. 94/100
