In 2008 Glenn Symons moved to Prince Edward County to make wine, buying the established Lighthall vineyard. He was previously a pharmacist based in Ottawa, but from his 8 acres of vines and his Quonset hut winery, he’s making some pretty smart wines. He also makes ewes milk cheese.
Lighthall Progression Sparkling Vidal 2018 Prince Edward County, Canada
This is focussed and lively with lemony fruit and some grapey richness. Lovely purity and zip here to this clean, attractive wine. 88/100
Lighthall Pinot Gris 2018 Prince Edward County, Canada
One-third in oak, two-thirds in stainless steel. Full malolactic. This is creamy and rounded with good texture and soft pear fruit, with a bit of citrus in the background. A very rounded wine. 87/100

One-quarter in oak (500 litre barrels). Nice purity and precision here with taut citrus fruit and a bit of green apple. Has lively acidity. Lots to like here. 92/100
Lighthall Pinot Noir Les Trois Fils 2017 Prince Edward County, Canada
Fermented in concrete and aged for 12 months in French oak. Meaty, spicy and vivid with some animal notes, and a twist of cheese. Lively, intense and brightly fruity. A distinctive but delicious Pinot. 90/100
