G Descombes Regnie 2011, a serious Beaujolais

I just love this wine.

I know that’s not very profound, but it’s utterly delicious. It’s one of the naturally made new wave Beaujolais wines, and it’s just so good.

G Descombes Régnié 2011 Beaujolais, France
12% alcohol. Quite deep in colour. Brilliant, fresh, bloody, a bit meaty and really mineral, with some iron notes as well as ripe black cherry fruit. Nicely structured with a bit of grip and a real mineral dimension alongside the pure, textured, sweet fruit. Fabulous wine. 93/100 (£14.99 Les Caves de Pyrene)

  1. Sure is a top producer, one which we at Indigo share with Les Caves. Think they do the Brouilly and this one whilst we have the Morgon, the Morgon Veilles Vignes and probably our favourite the Regnie Veilles Vignes. All serious ageworthy Cru Beaujolais a million miles away from the red-coloured banana juice that is prevalent!
