So, Beaujolais Nouveau is still a thing. I went through a dark patch, but the quality of the wines seems t0 have picked up. This one is from Beaujolais specialist Christopher Piper and it’s really good. Released today (Thurs 15 Nov).
Châteaux de Vaux Beaujolais-Villages Nouveau 2018 France
From Yannick de Vermont, this is a really impressive Nouveau. Lovely sweet black cherry fruit with some notes of raspberry and blackberry. It’s very ripe but still has freshness. As you’d expect for Nouveau this is all about primary fruit. There’s just a tiny hint of bubblegum in the background, but it doesn’t protrude. 89/100
