This is rather good. It’s a Tyrrells exclusive for UK retailer Marks & Spencer, and it’s the real deal. Proper Hunter Semillon, just entering its long drinking window. It’s not cheap, but this is a serious fine wine that will age well. And occasionally, M&S have 25% off the range, when this becomes a very attractive option.
Fox Hollow Single Vineyard Semillon 2006 Hunter Valley, Australia
11% alcohol. From an old vineyard with some vines dating back to 1910, and made by Tyrrells. Powerful, intense wine with notes of lime, grapefruit, citrus peel and herbs. Lively and concentrated; full flavoured and bold. Beginning to develop some rich toasty complexity. Bone dry but not austere, showing excellent balance. 93/100 (Marks & Spencer £25)
Hi Jamie, M and s locally to me has this at £10 to clear.Bargain?
Buy now!!!
Thanks, some left fortunately and with 5% off if you buy three.
So is this best drinking now or later?
Also their 2009 Hermitage is down from £30 to £15. Also good value?
£15 for a hermitage has to be worth at least one bottle. The Tyrells is nice now but will be even nicer in five years, and will last for 30 IMHO
Where do you live, Martin?!
This is the M & S at Martlesham Heath near Woodbridge in Suffolk.
Thanks Jamie. Will open one tonight and keep the others to watch them evolve.
Thanks for the heads up Martin – just grabbed the 2 bottles you left on the shelf!
