Really nice piece by NY Times wine writer Eric Asimov on the influence of internet wine geeks in celebrating diverse wines. He even uses the term 'spoofulated'.

"...we live in the greatest era ever for wine lovers. Never has such a diversity of great wines been so widely available."
I'll drink to that. Were that not the case my own humble region wouldn't be making a viticultural comeback after a knockout punch by that dreadful American Prohibition of the previous century. Plus I've been reading a fascinating blog by wine growers in Kenya, of all places. Climate worries, neo-imperial instability, fuel shortage--lots of things to worry about, but the energy and enthusiasm I've found in the world of growing and making (and drinking) wine keeps me optimistic.
Cheers,
DB
Yes, quite agree - like your blog, by the way, db.
