Monty gets a five-for
Amazing. Monty Panesar, ignored for the first two test matches (for those who haven't got a clue what I'm on about, I'm talking about the sport of Cricket, and England versus Australia, otherwise known as the Ashes), has taken what the Aussies call a five-for, as England skittled the Aussies out for 244. England finished 51-2 in reply. Whether or not England capitalize on this probably depends on how KP and Freddie feel - if they play well, we could walk away with this. If they fail, then we could end up looking at a first-innings deficit. It's wide open.
The blogging phenomenon has caught on to the extent that it's now part of the BBC coverage of the Ashes series. Most of the entries aren't that gripping, though. It goes to show that blogging well is an art - one that I'm trying my best to learn.
On the subject of blogging, there's a BBC news article looking at some predictions made by technology group Gartner on the future of blogging. They reckon that during the middle of 2007 the number of blogs will level out at about 100 million, and maintain that 200 million people have already stopped writing their blogs. One of their experts suggests:
"Everyone thinks they have something to say, until they're put on stage and asked to say it."

Re blogging - the whole point and success of bloggin is that people dont have to go on stage to say it - they do it wherever, whenever.
Finally, a bit of gumption in the field. Harmison bowled well, but that was a flukey five-for from Monty, but as the great Barry Davies once opined "Frankly, who cares?" Hope Freddie gets his batting act together; he's torn between being responsible - unfortunately, his defensive technique is not that secure - and playing expansively. He needs to belt a few and make the Aussie bowlers bowl defensively. We can dream...
The blog phenomenon is another illustration that a lot of people think they have opinions but really they are imitating the sound-bite culture. Many entries are a form of graffiti - this is my tag, I woz here. But this is nothing new; look at Pompeii and ancient Egypt - people have been writing on walls for thousands of years!
Woke up this morning to find out that England have blown it - more-or-less. Barring a miracle, we look like losing this test match. How disappointing. That's cricket.
Well it was a miracle last year that you won the Ashes Jamie,so you never know.
Man City for the FA Cup this year?
England could still win this one. Just need to bat well. 550-odd? No problem.
City for the cup. This will definitely be their year.
OK, so we lost the ashes. Let's hope it doesn't end up 5-0.
