It’s from the Mencia grape variety and it comes from the fabulous Ribeira Sacra wine region in Galicia, north west Spain. The vineyards are terraced, a bit like the Douro – and this region isn’t all that far from the Douro, located just north of where the Douro river becomes the border between Portugal and Spain.
