\nI’ve enjoyed drinking this wine over the last two evenings. It’s the ‘second’ wine of Douro star property Quinta do Noval, and I think it’s a really good wine in its own right, offering the essence of Douro table wine in a relatively affordable bottle.

It’s named after the famous cedar tree at Noval, under which I had a memorable tasting back in 2009<\/a>, with far more wines and ports opened than were strictly necessary. <\/p>\n

\n<\/strong>Sweet black cherry and plum fruit. Supple with some fruit sweetness but also some savoury mineral notes, too. Black cherries, spice and nice definition and structure. A really stylish, midweight, balanced Douro red that would be a great place to start if you want to known what the Douro tastes like, in terms of table wines rather than ports. 91\/100 <\/p>\n
