This is quite a serious wine with freshness and also a nutty dimension, with herbs, almonds, some stony minerality and real depth. Quite lovely, and ageworthy too. 92\/100<\/p>\n<p><strong>Huet Vouvray Petillant 2002 Loire, France<\/strong><br \/>\nThis was served blind, but it was clearly very high quality sparkling Chenin. Very rich, toasty and full with mineral and bold citrus notes. Apple, herb and citrus palate with some hay notes as well as toasty richness. Fresh, perfumed and really peppery with lovely bright cherry fruit. This blends together Chinese, Eurasian, Indian, Malay and Peranakan cuisine, and the food comes in small plates, ideal for sharing. It\u2019s a cuisine that is disappearing, in part because of the time needed for preparation. Warm and a bit nutty with citrus and ripe apple fruit. Broad textured and rounded. A really interesting take on Sauvignon. 89\/100<\/p>\n<p><strong>Clos Roche Blanche Touraine Cuv\u00e9e Gamay 2010 Loire, France|<\/strong><br \/>\nFruity, fresh and pure with some pepper and meat complexity to the lovely black cherry and plum fruit. Quite a light, elegant style but there\u2019s some complexity here, too. Textured, rich, nutty and bold with notes of vanilla and spice, as well as pear and peach fruit. Fine, spicy and fresh with lovely red cherry fruit. Sappy, fine and a bit animal with good acidity.
