An inspired choice: the combination is a winner. Pale in colour. Silky, textured, fine and elegant, with a bit of savoury spiciness, and a hint of animal (although this is faint). So fresh and expressive, a truly lovely wine. 95\/100<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wineanorak.com:\/wineblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/JAGM9724.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5750\" title=\"JAGM9724\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wineanorak.com:\/wineblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/JAGM9724.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"334\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wineanorak.com:\/wineblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/JAGM9724.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.wineanorak.com:\/wineblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/JAGM9724-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.wineanorak.com:\/wineblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/JAGM9724-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.wineanorak.com:\/wineblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/JAGM9724-400x267.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Lanzerac Pinotage 1964 Stellenbosch, South Africa<\/strong><br \/>\nA real treat to try this old Pinotage: it is about as old as Pinotage gets, because the first varietally labelled example was this wine in 1961. Old and a bit earthy, with notes of spice and herbs. There\u2019s some elegance on the palate, though, which still has some cherry and plum fruit. Quite smooth with a hint of fudge. Spicy, dense and grippy with sweet black fruits and some mineral character, as well as a hint of earth. Sweet and smooth black cherry and berry fruits combine well with the fresh peppery notes.
