Two lovely southern French red wines from The Sampler. They’re some of the exclusive imports that they bring in.<\/p>\n

First, Domaine Rimbert Cousin Oscar 2011 Vin de France<\/strong>. 11.5% alcohol, from St Chinian, and made from Cinsault. This is a remarkable wine, mainly for the fact that it’s so honestly just what it is – lively, juicy, fruity and quite simple. But simple like this is good: I love the delightful, drinkable pure cherry fruit. Light and fun. An anti-Parker wine, if you will. 88\/100 (\u00a37.11 The Sampler)<\/p>\n

Second, Philippe et Vincent Jaboulet Syrah 2009 Vin de Pays de la Drome, France<\/strong>. This is just fresh, pure Rhone Syrah, and – again – it’s thoroughly drinkable. It’s sweetly aromatic with open meaty, olive-like flavours as well as lovely pure dark fruits.
