We won this also quite comfortably.

I opened the bowling and bowled through my 8 overs for 2-41. The ball was swinging like a banana and I kept drifting out to leg. In the 10 over game everyone had to bowl an over and mine went for 3. It was a glorious day, and the cricket was fun.

At tea, some wine was going around. It was nice to try the new release 2012 Villa Maria Private Bin Sauvignon Blanc. This was really aromatic but perhaps lacked a bit of presence and acidity on the palate: a real crowd-pleaser, though.

And I enjoyed a 2009 Saint Chinian from Calmel J Joseph, which was fresh, fruity, meaty, savoury and incredibly drinkable. At around £10 retail, this is a really lovely wine, especially suited to a warm summer day like today. It’s available from Daniel Lambert Wines/The Welsh Wine Company.
