Wines like this are in a real sweet spot for me: they have personality and give pleasure, and they are priced so I can enjoy them whatever the occasion.

Melis Ioacalia Vermentino di Sardegna 2011 Italy
Brilliantly fresh and aromatic with lovely, rounded pear and citrus fruit. There are some fine floral notes, too. Lovely and bright with an almost saline lift. Very pretty and well balanced, and quite serious in a nice sort of way. 90/100 (£8.50 The Wine Society)

Semeli Mantinia Nassiakos 2011 Greece
This is a varietal Moschofilero grown at 650 m altitude. Pale in colour, it has lovely perfumed fruity, herby aromatics with some melon, fresh herb and tangerine notes. The palate is fresh, light, bright and fruity with lovely balance and a lemony finish.
