Yesterday was action packed. After travelling into London for a client meeting, it was back home, in time to witness a remarkable spectacle.<\/p>\n

Have you ever seen the Channel 4 series Big Fat Gypsy Weddings<\/a>? It’s a close look at the traveller community, with a particular emphasis on weddings. They tend to be quite extravagant. Well, we live in a cul de sac with a row of houses on one side, a pond and green on the other, and a Catholic church at the end. This was the setting,\u00a0yesterday, for a traveller community wedding that attracted quite a bit of attention, because it was being filmed by Channel 4. It was quite a spectacle, with the bride, a Barbara McFadyen\u00a0arriving on the back of a truck, supporting a blinged up electronic ankle tag<\/a>. I took some shots, and a short film.<\/p>\n

<\/object><\/center>Then, in the evening, it was the Andre Simon Food and Drink Book Awards. San Harrop and I attended because our book, Authentic wine<\/a>, was one of the four shortlisted works in the drinks category. Alas, we lost. The winner was The Oxford Companion to Beer<\/em>. We drowned our sorrows on distinctly average Chilean wine, but had a nice time chatting to some of the other shortlisted authors.<\/p>\n
