Numbers swelled somewhat, and it became a major event,with PR Nicolette Waterford, Richard Kershaw MW, winemaker Rianie Strydom and general manager Wikus Pretorius.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wineanorak.com:\/wineblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/IMGP4213.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3854\" title=\"IMGP4213\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wineanorak.com:\/wineblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/IMGP4213.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"334\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wineanorak.com:\/wineblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/IMGP4213.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.wineanorak.com:\/wineblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/IMGP4213-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.wineanorak.com:\/wineblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/IMGP4213-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.wineanorak.com:\/wineblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/IMGP4213-400x267.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It was a great visit, and I was impressed by the wines, which I will write up in detail later. The vineyards are planted on the slopes of the Heldeberg, and are managed by Wikus in a way that&#8217;s a little more natural than that of some of the neighbours, with an emphasis on composting and cover cropping.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3856\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3856\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wineanorak.com:\/wineblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/IMGP4233.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3856\" title=\"wikuspretorius\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wineanorak.com:\/wineblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/IMGP4233.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"334\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wineanorak.com:\/wineblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/IMGP4233.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.wineanorak.com:\/wineblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/IMGP4233-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.wineanorak.com:\/wineblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/IMGP4233-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.wineanorak.com:\/wineblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/IMGP4233-400x267.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3856\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Wikus Pretorius<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Anvil Chardonnay 2010 is quite serious, made in a fresh, tight, citrussy style with classy oak. Haskell Pillars 2008, a Syrah, is really fresh, aromatic and quite meaty, with some finesse.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wineanorak.com:\/wineblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/IMGP4231.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3857\" title=\"IMGP4231\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wineanorak.com:\/wineblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/IMGP4231.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"334\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wineanorak.com:\/wineblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/IMGP4231.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.wineanorak.com:\/wineblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/IMGP4231-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.wineanorak.com:\/wineblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/IMGP4231-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.wineanorak.com:\/wineblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/IMGP4231-400x267.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Aeon 2008 is another Syrah, with a dribble of Mourvedre, and is more formal with freshness and elegance its hallmark. Haskell II 2009 is a Shiraz\/Cabernet blend, yet again showing real elegance and refinement. Perhaps the pick of the bunch (reflecting Rianie&#8217;s true vinous love) is the Haskell IV 2007, a structured, intense Bordeaux blend.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wineanorak.com:\/wineblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/IMGP4242.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3858\" title=\"IMGP4242\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wineanorak.com:\/wineblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/IMGP4242.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"334\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wineanorak.com:\/wineblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/IMGP4242.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.wineanorak.com:\/wineblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/IMGP4242-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.wineanorak.com:\/wineblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/IMGP4242-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.wineanorak.com:\/wineblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/IMGP4242-400x267.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>With lunch we had some of the Dombeya wines. This is thought of as a foundation range for Haskell, rather than a second label, and the branding is kept quite separate. The views are fabulous, and the food first rate.
