So I arrived in Cape Town this morning, picked up a tiny, under-powered rental car, and headed out to Riebeek Kasteel, in the Swartland. Tomorrow, the Revolution begins.<\/p>\n

I got a bit lost in Malmesbury, because of a road closure, but arrived around 1 pm at the Royal Hotel. So I decided to walk around town, which is quite pretty, but my wander was slightly spoiled by some pretty heavy duty hassling for money from one of the guys who was hanging around. He started following me, but when I ignored him he decided to go away.<\/p>\n

Right opposite my hotel is Mullineux’ small winery, and next to that, the Wine Kollective<\/a>. This is a brilliant small wine shop stocking all the really exciting wines from this region, sold at cellar door prices. I bought a bottle that I was unfamiliar with, but which came highly recommended. At 120 Rand, this is brilliant – one of the very best South African Chenins I’ve tasted.<\/p>\n

\n<\/strong>14% alcohol. Pale yellow colour. Powerful, intense flavours of peach, toast, citrus and pear with a lovely mineral freshness keeping the richness at bay.
