Opera House<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

For the last few days I have been in Oslo. It’s the first time I have visited this city.<\/p>\n

I am here to do a couple of talks on the subject of Authentic Wine<\/em> at the grand tasting of the Arcus group, the leading supplier of wine to the state-owned monopoly (Vinmonopolet). They were inviting Horeca representatives yesterday (the restaurant trade), and today it is the turn of the Vinmonopolet people and, later, consumers.<\/p>\n

I have taken the chance to look round the city a bit. Yesterday was the Oslo marathon, so the streets were filled with very tired-looking people running further than the human body was intended to go.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The Opera House is quite new, and is a spectacular marble construction, designed so that people can walk up the roof.<\/p>\n

The Vigeland Sculpture Park is quite impressive. It’s an 80 acre park containing over 200 bronze and granite sculptures by Gustav Vigeland<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The Hollmenkollen ski jump is very scary. Located on the top of a hill on the outskirts the city, it’s a huge new construction to assist people in their suicidal desire to jump 140 metres on a pair of skis. Sadly it was foggy, so we didn’t get a great view of it.<\/p>\n
