These wines seem to manage to combine ripe fruit with freshness to great effect. And I love the packaging. Great label designs.

First Drop Half and Half 2009 Barossa, Australia
A blend of Shiraz and Monastrell. 14.5% alcohol. Sweet, ripe and pure with lovely blackberry, blackcurrant and berry fruit, as well as some meaty notes. Ripe and rich yet still fresh and well defined, with some spiciness, Lovely balance. 92/100

First Drop Mother’s Ruin Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 McLaren Vale, Australia
14% alcohol. The defining feature here is vibrant, juicy blackcurrant and blackberry fruit. I like the way that there’s really good definition to the sweet fruit, with some grippy tannins underneath it. Fresh, delicious and joyful, with lovely fruit focus. 91/100

First Drop The Big Blind 2009 Adelaide Hills, Australia
A blend of Nebbiolo and Barbera. 14% alcohol. Pale-ish cherry red colour. Sweetly aromatic nose with notes of ginger, spice, cherry, plum. There’s a combination of sweet fruit and a savoury twist. The palate is fresh and spicy, with some grip and attractive sweet and sour cherry character. A distinctive, characterful wine. 92/100

First Drop Mother’s Milk Shiraz 2009 Barossa, Australia
14.5% alcohol.
