Another superb Syrah from the Gimblett Gravels subregion of Hawkes Bay in New Zealand.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Squawking Magpie &#8216;The Stoned Crow&#8217; Syrah 2008 Gimblett Gravels, Hawkes Bay<\/strong><br \/>\nA single-vineyard wine aged in new French oak. 13.5% alcohol. Aromatic, peppery nose with black cherries, spice and some clove character. Quite savoury. The palate is fresh and savoury with lively, peppery dark fruits and some dry tannic grip. It&#8217;s rich and tannic, with real potential.
