Hubbs Creek is a small winery based on a 5 acre vineyard with high density plantings, with the first vines going into the ground in 2002, and planting continuing until 2010. Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir are the focus here.<\/p>\n

Battista Calvieri, assisted by his brother Bruno, makes the wines at a small winery on the property in Hillier. John\u2019s family is originally from Italy, and he \u00a0was inspired to make wine after a prolonged trip to Italy (he was there to learn the language on a study leave from his job at the University of Toronto) where he ended up making some with an older winemaker he\u2019d befriended.<\/p>\n

The wines here are really impressive.<\/p>\n

Hubbs Creek Pinot Gris 2018 Prince Edward County
\n<\/strong>Wild ferment. Rounded and textural with sweet pear and apple fruit. Rounded with nice weight. 89\/100<\/p>\n

Hubbs Creek Chardonnay 2017 Prince Edward County<\/strong>
\nFine-grained with nice structure and a lovely citrus core. Refined and expressive with refined fruit and structure. Reminds me a bit of Jura Chardonnay. 93\/100<\/p>\n

Hubbs Creek Pinot Noir 2016 Prince Edward County<\/strong>
\nSupple and juicy with nice plum and berry fruit. Light, expressive and deliciously focused. 91\/100<\/p>\n
