Just back from a tasting of Rousseau Burgundys at Roberson<\/a>, one of London’s most interesting merchants. They run a really interesting series of tastings for consumers: events like these give people who haven’t got a gazillion pound wine budget a chance to drink a range of wines like these.<\/p>\n

The tasting covered a range of vintages, from 1989 to 2007, and included all of Rousseau’s significant holdings. I’ll write it up in due course. It’s great to taste and discuss wines like these with like-minded wine nuts.<\/p>\n

Wine of the night was the 1990 Mazy-Chambertin. Second, in my book, was the 2001 Chambertin Clos du Beze. Disappointment of the night was the 1989 Chambertin, which was too evolved. Overall, a superb set of wines.<\/p>\n
