Not to be confused with the C\u00f4tes du Rh\u00f4ne domaine of the same name, Domaine Clavel<\/a> has vineyards in four different Languedoc terroirs: Pic St Loup, Gr\u00e8s de Montpellier, La M\u00e9janelle and Saint Christol, with 33 hectares in all. The farming is organic.<\/p>\n This, their entry level red, is really smart. It’s from Gr\u00e8s de Montpellier, and comes from sandstone pebbles over a clay\/limestone base. It’s remarkable value for money. The palate is juicy and bright but has lovely depth of cherry fruit with a touch of meatiness and some gravelly grip.
