This is a brilliant oak aged Sauvignon\/Semillon from Duncan Savage at Cape Point. The blend in 2013 is 82% Sauvignon, 18% Semillon and the grapes were all hand-harvested, whole bunch pressed and then the juice settled for 8 hours. Fermentation was with a mix of cultured and wild yeasts, 95% in barrel (half new) and 5% amphora. The result is a complex, ageworthy white with a tight core of acidity and perfectly integrated oak. It’s already delicious, but I reckon it will peak in five years (making this rating look a little mean) and keep going pretty much for ever.<\/p>\n

\n<\/strong>So complex and refined with concentrated citrus and pear fruit with smoked lemons, grapefruit, wax and fennel notes. There’s a lovely crystalline quality to the fruit and keen acidity. Such a beautiful, intense white. 93\/100
