Two Chardonnays tonight. Both quite lovely. My vote goes to the beautiful biodynamic Chardonnay from Seresin, but the Lafon is nice too.<\/p>\n

Seresin Chardonnay Reserve 2010 Marlborough, New Zealand<\/strong>
\n13.5% alcohol. Wild yeast, 20% new oak. There’s a richness here, with a bit of mealiness and some spice, as well as lovely complex citrus fruits. Lovely tension between the richer pineapple notes and the fresh lemon, with a bit of toasty richness and a long spicy finish. Stylish wine showing nice density and definition. 93\/100<\/p>\n

\nThere’s a core of fresh lemony fruit here with nice precision, but also a bit of depth. Some pithiness and some pear richness, too. Lively spicy notes add interest. Purity and density combine to produce something better than the appellation might suggest. 90\/100<\/p>\n
