Env\u00ednate is a collaboration between four winemakers who are exploring distinctive terroirs in Tenerife (where these wines come from) and Ribeira Sacra. The partners –\u00a0Roberto Santana, Alfonso Torrente, Laura Ramos, and Jos\u00e9 Mart\u00ednez – met while studying oenology at university.<\/p>\n
These are the rare parcela bottlings. The regular\u00a0T\u00e1ganan wines are also superb and a bit easier to find.<\/p>\n

\nNamed after a rock type, this is from a small mixed planting of the likes of Gual, List\u00e1n Blanco, Marmajuelo, Albillo Criollo and Malvasia. Ancient vines on their own roots. 13% alcohol. Quite profound nose of minerals, flint and spice, with subtle toast and nuts, as well as citrus fruit. The palate is bright and intense with minerally citrus fruit, pear and spice. There’s a hint of richness, too. This is profound stuff. 95\/100<\/p>\n
\nAnother small parcel of ancient, untrained vines of mixed varieties such as\u00a0Listan Negro, Listan Prieto, Baboso, Negramoll and Malvasia Negra, planted on a steep slope. \u00a013% alcohol. A co-fermented field blend, whole bunch fermentation with natural yeast in older 500 litre barrels. Fine, pure, expressive, floral cherry fruit nose leads to a silky raspberry and cherry fruit palate. Vivid, pure and elegant with fine-grained tannins. Quite beautiful. 94\/100<\/p>\n
