It’s Friday, so Fiona and I had lunch out (she managed to secure a 3 hour gap between clients). We went, for the first time, to Indian Zest, a high-end Indian restuarant in Sunbury on Thames (website here<\/a>).<\/p>\n

It has a very tastefully laid-out, old colonial-style dining room, but there was only one other table occupied for lunch. The set menu, at \u00a310.95 for two courses is a real bargain. And the food was superb. I had a Green Peppercorn Malai Tikka to start (above<\/em>) and then a main of Lamb Dhansak (flavoured with dill, pumpkin, aubergine, tamarind, fenugreek and lentils) (below<\/em>). The malai tikka was beautifully presented with lovely flavours. The dhansak was also good, but I didn’t care for the way it was served.<\/p>\n

The wine list<\/a> is short but interesting enough, focusing on the bottom end, sourced from Berkmann. Fiona had a glass of Kleinkoof Chenin Blanc, and I had a glass of Norton Finca La Colonia Malbec, both of which were perfectly serviceable. They only had 2 whites and 2 reds by the glass, though. If we’d been there for a long session, Bollinger at \u00a359 looked like a good option. For the flash, Dom P is \u00a3141. \u00a0Overall bill for 2 including service was \u00a332, which is brilliant value for money.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
