Continuing the Gamay journey, it’s back to Beaujolais.<\/p>\n
This Fleurie is from a sixth-generation family producer, and the vineyard is managed to promote microbial life, although it isn\u2019t certified organic. The family have owned this Ponci\u00e9 plot since 1872, and it\u2019s on a steep slope which tops out at 400 m. Soils are decomposed granite, and the average age of the vines is 55 years. Winemaking is traditional, with destemming and cap plunging, and the wine is allowed to clarify naturally after long ageing on lees.<\/p>\n
