Cabernet Franc is a grape variety that has been growing on me. It’s often thought of as in the shadow of its talented son, Cabernet Sauvignon. But in some ways, Cabernet Franc is a more complete grape. People are realizing its virtues: in Bordeaux, in South Africa, in Argentina. And in the Loire, it’s always been the main red grape variety. In Ontario, Canada, it’s now making some stunning wines.<\/p>\n

This is a really good, affordable example of Loire Cabernet Franc. It seems to capture the variety beautifully.<\/p>\n

\nThis is lovely. Just so typical. Juicy, ripe and rounded with sweet, supple cherry, raspberry and blackcurrant fruit with a leafy green edge. There’s elegance here: it has the Loire Cabernet Franc wildness, but it is tamed without blurring its personality. 91\/100 (\u00a312.50 Yapp<\/a>)<\/p>\n
