I’m a big Pinot Noir fan. I just love it when it is good, and increasingly it’s becoming much easier to find decent Pinot from around the world, and not just in Burgundy. German Pinot Noir? Well, there’s a lot of it, and there are some really good ones, but there’s also quite a lot of boring German Pinot. It’s too soon to hail Germany as the new source of world class Pinot, but increasingly I’m seeing some very exciting German examples. This is the regular Pinot Noir from Thorle, and it’s really impressive. I have a full review of their wines coming soon.<\/p>\n

Th\u00f6rle Sp\u00e4tbrugunder 2013 Rheinhessen, Germany<\/strong>
\n13% alcohol. Fresh, vivid, red cherries, raspberries and berry fruits. Faint hints of meat and tar with a bright grippy presence. Lovely vivid fruit and nice purity, with glace cherries and a hint of damson. 92\/100 (UK agent Carte Blanche)<\/p>\n
