This was another Prowein discovery. It’s from biodynamic Vacqueras producer\u00a0Le Sang des Cailloux. This is the domaine’s traditional cuvee and it alternates over a three-year cycle with the names of each of the\u00a0daughters of proprietor Serge F\u00e9rigoule: Floureto, Doucinello and Azala\u00efs. I was so impressed I have just bought some: it has an almost Burgundian elegance that’s sadly all too rare in the Southern\u00a0Rh\u00f4ne these days.<\/p>\n

Le Sang des Cailloux Vacqueyras Cuv\u00e9e Azala\u00efs 2012 Southern Rh\u00f4ne, France<\/strong>A blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 7% Mourv\u00e8dre and 3% Cinsault. Beautifully aromatic, pure and sweetly fruited with cherries and spice on the nose. The palate is silky and fine with lovely structure, and nice minerally, stony undercurrents to the very fine red cherry and plum fruit. This is irresistible. 94\/100 (\u00a321 Berry Bros & Rudd)
